Holy Week Bulletin Cover |
I drew this first on paper, then scanned it and highlighted it in Photoshop.
From the Holy Week bulletin description:
" This picture was supposed to resemble each event of Holy Week, not as each individual day, but to show that they all happened to accomplish one goal. That goal, represented by the cross dividing the frames in the middle, is the forgiveness of sin.
- The frames are ordered as follows:
- (right bottom) Palm Sunday
- (left bottom) Maundy Thursday
- (left top) Good Friday
- (right top) Easter Sunday
Each frame has many key objects and pieces that trigger the mind to think of a certain part of Holy Week. However, there are also some things I tried to put in for further detail. For example, in the Maundy Thursday section I had drawn in wine cups, bowls, and other various dish ware to give the viewer an impression of a meal. Then, I connected that to the Lord's Supper by adding the most important meal involving Jesus and his disciples in the Bible; Maundy Thursday.
On the other hand, a good example of things to further detail would be the Good Friday section. I didn't put him on the cross like many other depictions, but rather standing before Golgotha and the angered crowd waiting for him to be crucified, holding the very tree on which he would die: the cross.
In the final frame, the Easter Sunday frame, Christ is looking out from the tomb, as he is rolling the stone away letting the light bleed in.
So, God bless you, and may this Holy Week be a time of great reflection and meditation."
